The initial design process has been evolving with the Interior Designers and the client over the last two years. The brief was to install a cutting edge artificial planting scheme in the ground breaking new shopping centre in the main Blackpool redevelopment.

We started by proposing different type of trees and specimens, the clients particularly liked the preserved date Palm idea to enhance the main section of the centre. These would however need to be imported from overseas to get the best quality and finish.

The sizes of Palms must be extensive to make the impact needed with one to be a massive 8.0m in height which would be wrapped by built in planter seats. To finish of the design thousands of crisp white LED lights circled the stem of the Palm.

At the base we did not want to do the usual Ivy base planting, so we installed wonderful 1.0m tall white Cymbidium Orchids bushes.

For the free standing planters tall 90cm high Sepia Brown Kubix. Inside planted funky Aloe Vera, Bamboo and Pandanus planting.

It was a major operation as the stems weight in at over a tonne in weight. These would normally be installed before the opening of the site but in this case delays in transport resulted in the floor having to be laid before the Palms had been installed. As a result we adapted to this challenge and used the relevant lifting equipment to make sure the installation went ahead smoothly and without risk.

The overall finish was magnificent and client is delighted with the final finish at there shopping centre.
