In city centers space is a premium and with most of the buildings have some type of balcony roof top structure. With the square footage being so high why not use this space, entertaining, relaxing space, etc?
This is exactly what happened on site here, on the eighth floor there is a roof outside the client reception. We proposed decking with a dark wood. This looked great but to finish it off plant display were required.
So we firstly chose the planters, square 50cm cubes in a striking scarlet red paint finish. The plants needed to be anything but ordinary but with the terrace being so high up the winds can cause big problems with the survival of the exterior office plant displays.
We chose to use hardy exotic specimens using Palms and large Cordylines, Scimmias, etc.
The client requested flowering plant colour for there client opening day, but with the season being late the availability and quality of flowering is poor at this time of the year.
So we got our in house flower designers to arrange some alliums and sunflowers and group into flower spikes, these were then inserted into the displays and gave a magnificent splash of color.
